Just Be ~My Creative Sketches-October sketch~

Its time to reveal the October Sketch from My Creative Sketches! My favorite time of the month! This month I decided to do a Mixed Media layout on a canvas. This canvas features my great niece Lucia. Isn't she a little doll?  The papers that I used are from Tea Thyme by Prima. I just totally love all the colors in this collection and take great joy working with them!

Before I could add the elements I had to build up the background. I added paper doilies, tags, cheese cloth and tissue paper. Then I used a few different Prima masks with Light Moulding Paste. This all was the most fun....greating my hands all dirty! The light moulding paste dries pretty fast, especially if you use your heat gun on it.  Next came the glimmer mists! Oh Yeah! I used different shades of pinks, browns, silver and let them drip down the canvas.  I then took some water downed white paint and and let it run down the canvas.

Here is the awesome sketch created by our very own talented Kim Keane!

TIP: This photo of Lucia is b/w, but I wanted to add the color back to her tutu and haven't mastered that yet in PSE, lol. SO, I got out my distress inks in Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick and carefully "colored" the ink in starting from the lighted to darkest, with Q-Tipps! Not are they only good for make up but for crafting too!It isn't perfect, but thats not what I was aiming for anyways!  I also used some gorgeous Dusty Attic grass and flowers chippies that I painted white and added distress stickles to them.

I recently purchased a Crafters Clay Kit by Martha Stewart and decided to give it a try.  I made the pink daisy in the cneter of the floral cluster. I just used the white clay and then painted it with glimmer mist and some gesso.

I made the other flowers, other than the cream colored ones.

I used a paint brush and some gesso and touched everything with hits of gesso.

The white bird here is made from the Martha Stewart Crafters Clay kit as well, and the leaves surrounding the flowers.
I did some fussy cutting of some of the flowers that were part of the pattern paper.

I had so much fun creating this mixed media canvas and can't wait to try again!  So I need you all to remember to go to My Creavtive Sketches blog and be inspired by the rest of the design team, and then try out this amazing sketch for yourselves!  Once your done creating, link your layout up on the MCS blog so we can all leave you some love AND you can get your name in the draw for the awesome give away that Pam always has!  We also choice the Top 3 of the layouts and you recieve a blinkie to put on your blog letting the whole world know that you where 1 of the chosen 3 and be proud of it!

Hope you all have a great week, and please leave me some love too!  Please feel free to ask me any questions pertaining to my work and I will gladly help you with anything you ask!
